Recently, I have become a bit obsessed with this computer strategy game.
It's a bit behind the curve; I think the PC version came out more than two
years ago. I'm putting this up to perhaps find some network opponents (playing
humans is much more fun than the computer) and perhaps get more Mac users
into the game, thus encouraging Westwood
(the software company) to make Mac versions of the expansion sets and later
game versions. Here are some partial screen shots from a game I was playing
(as well as some graphics I have "lifted" from some C&C sites
on the web.
(If anyone has any objections to them, I'll get rid of them. I just
haven't taken the time to make them myself.)
If anyone is up for a multi-player game, you might find me on WCHAT (Westwood's game server) under my nickname "WALRUS5" or you can e-mail me with when and how you want to hook up. Please remember I'll be playing the first version of Command and Conquer: Tiberium Dawn, not the latest version: Red Alert. If you have the right game I can play against a Mac or a PC. The Mac version of Red Alert hasn't come out and it is not clear that there will be one. I'm in the Toronto, Ontario, Canada, local dialing area for the purposes of modem to modem play. I have managed to play sucessfully by modem and I'm having some luck with Westwood's WCHAT service. Apparently one can use the "Outland" tool to connect over the internet but I'm not sure how to do this yet.
Recently, I have discovered the Mac Gaming League, which has a C & C "ladder" (an ongoing tournament). It's the only ladder I know of at the moment. Westwood is testing their own ladder to work with WCHAT but as of December '97 it doesn't yet work with the Mac version of WCHAT. A new Mac version of the WCHAT software is in the works (see MacMark's page below for updates)
I have HTMLified one of the FAQs I found on the web about C&C. Again if anyone objects to their work being presented in this way please let me know. (zamiel at interlog.com)
